[I've personally Canned this idea because I don't believe it lives up to what mcpedl is trying to accomplish.]
Creating an experience where others can swiftly connect and give feedback should be Introduced. Examples like ROBLOX's 3D social experience's and Club Penguins Basic 2D Environment make great places to virtually sit down and hangout/talk with others.
But MCPEDL is not an online social experience, it's a website developed for sharing creations from creators, making it naturally less appealing for players to get involved with development and ideas, which Is why I am suggesting the most simple-ist of options. A Forum Tab. (Along with a remastered start page.
The Forum tab can be made to talk about creations, ideas, etc. Creators and players can have a select keywords (such as the name of their favorite creators, resource packs, etc) and will be updated.
Creators can see what the community thinks of their creations and receive feedback, while the community can brainstorm ideas, receive help on their texture packs, worlds, etc, and overall enjoy participating on the site instead of just going to find a world or resource pack and leave.
The Last idea I had was the start menu, I get the idea of posting the latest creations in bold, large images, but maybe we can make it a bit cleaner by adding other options such as a mini-profile for logged in viewers (which can be replaced with a log in menu, which would encourage players to log in but not force them to.)
Now there is a few problems with a Forum, more specifically, Moderation. Moderators can be far and few between, and obvious goal of MCPEDL is to make a more automated system so you don't have to be in charge of 17-21 year old moderators (which is the right age to make mistakes). Their can also be a large influx of users (including bad eggs) which can tarnish the productivity and reputation of the forums.
Also if a user gets banned from the forums they should still have access to the rest of the website <---
